VoiceThread – Social Media tools in action

I just checked out the new social media site: VoiceThread. Think of it as a central location to talk as a group about pictures, documents or to simply host a discussion (like the love advice from Dr. Quinn). Users can make text or audio comments about the picture or even refernce what they’re talking about by drawing on the picture. Once comments are made you can click on the different user’s icon to hear or read their comment.

I could easily see my family using this to discuss photos and keep memories. Or the podcasts I work on using it as a place for listeners to leave feedback in a unique way. Graphic artists could use it with clients to discuss changes that need to be made to mockups.

One thing I didn’t like was there wasn’t an in-browser method to adjust the volume on the recorded comments. Some of the comments were louder than others and a bit of a shock when the user has headphones.
