Lifestyle Meets Technology at CES 2010 Living in Digital Times Pavilion

With more than 43 million moms using the Internet daily and spending an average of 85 minutes online(1), it is no wonder why the world’s largest technology trade show, CES (Consumer Electronics Show), is building exhibitor communities tailored to these key consumer populations. Living in Digital Times, a concept designed to make technology more relevant to society’s segmented populations and more cost effective for exhibitors, has announced three new CES-based lifestyle events slated for CES 2010 — bringing its total to five unique conference/expo events. These include:

  -- Kids@Play - www.KidsAtPlaySummit.com
  -- Mommy Tech - www.MommyTechSummit.com
  -- Higher Ed Tech Summit - www.HigherEDtechSummit.com
  -- digital Health - www.DigitalHealthSummit.com
  -- Silvers Summit - www.SilversSummit.com

Building off of the success and critical acclaim established by Kids@Play and Silvers Summit, launched in 2008 and 2009 respectively, the three new exhibits and conferences each offer a unique slice of digital life. Mommy Tech Summit, Higher Ed Tech Summit, and the Digital Health Summit round-out the 2010 schedule, completing the trade show within a tradeshow concept on the show floor — to be co-located in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

“Our goal is to bring new voices to the dialogue about technology,” said Robin Raskin, president and founder of Living in Digital Times. “CES is like the China Silk Road of trade shows. It’s where people with all sorts of tech interests bring their goods to the table. Our lifestyle events are designed to give products and services a context with a particular consumer base. By attracting experts from legal, education, technology, services and policy backgrounds, we’re able to look at hot issues like: learning, power moms, Internet safety, mobile kids, aging in place and more.

Living in Digital Times lifestyle events at CES 2010 overview:
  -- Kids@Play Summit

Kids@Play explores the world of kids and technology. Their lives are infused with technology, from their first electronic picture books through their first Facebook profile. The summit showcases exhibitors that shape how kids are growing up digitally and features panel discussions on how children are exploring the way they entertain themselves, their 24/7 communications, and the way technology pervades their schoolwork and “real” world explorations. Speakers across multiple industries and disciplines will examine the impact of being digital with demos, discussion, and research. Participating companies in past years have included Electronic Arts, Mattel, PBS Kids Play, and Symantec. Warren Buckleitner, founder of Children’s Technology Review, will serve as the summit’s director. Conference: January 7, 2010; www.KidsAtPlaySummit.com.

– Mommy Tech Summit

Mommy Tech will take an in-depth look at the newest products and ideas for the burgeoning mom market. 36 million U.S. women (many of them moms) actively participate in the blogosphere each week, and half say blogs influence their purchase decisions.(2) Furthermore, mothers comprise a substantial constituency among tech users with nearly two-thirds of American mothers using five or more forms of technology daily. Their arsenal of tech tools includes everything from smartphones and netbooks to automatic bottle warmers and high-tech strollers. The exhibit/conference will focus on the tools of the mommy trade, how to talk and listen to moms when building products, and how moms use tech to keep track of their busy lives. Conference: January 8, 2010; www.MommyTechSummit.com.

– Higher Ed Tech Summit

Today’s college students are robust consumers of Information Age technologies. With a single keystroke they access information that would take hours to locate in a brick-and-mortar library, if it could be found at all. They attend classes, participate in seminars and discussion groups, and submit their work remotely, sometimes from across the country and sometimes from halfway around the world. They load their dorm rooms with the latest gadgets and cram their cellphones with the latest apps. The Higher Ed Tech Summit will shine a spotlight on the key issues of high-tech higher education. Conference: January 8, 2010; www.HigherEDtechSummit.com.

– digital Health Summit

The dHealth Summit focuses on the convergence of technology and healthcare and how they provide solutions to many of the most vexing healthcare-related issues. In addition to diagnosing and battling disease, today’s generation of high-tech healthcare products and services will be the catalyst for better managed healthcare, patient/doctor communication, shorter hospital stays and faster recovery time, lowered costs for health insurance, early prevention and detection, digital patient information records, medical attention over distances (telemedicine), patient monitoring, and so much more. A robust industry is developing to serve the health market. The dHealth Summit and Exhibition was created to serve as its epicenter. Conference: January 9, 2010; www.DigitalHealthSummit.com.

– Silvers Summit

Silvers Summit showcases the products and services that keep baby boomers engaged, entertained, and connected. This one-day event focusing on boomer-focused technologies assembles companies, distributors, journalists, research firms, and think tanks, to demonstrate the products and services that will help mature consumers maintain their high quality of life. From productivity to entertainment and beyond, the Silvers Summit and exhibition shines a spotlight on the technologies that matter most to America’s 78 million boomers. Conference: January 9, 2010; www.SilversSummit.com.
